CAMP DIRECTOR: Rich Barnes

Coach Barnes currently coaches in Homer New York after spending the last two seasons at Le Moyne College where he helped guide the dolphins to the 2008 and 2007 National Championship game. In 2007 the dolphins won the National Championship and finished as runner up in 2008. In 2006, Coach Barnes served as the Head Coach for the National Champion Cortland State Red Dragons. Coach Barnes was rewarded with the Division 3 National Coach of the year award for his efforts.

Coach Barnes has served as an assistant or head lacrosse coach at Le Moyne College (2007-2008), Cortland College(1990 & 1997, 2005-'06), Ithaca College (1991-'92, '98-2004), Rochester Rattlers (2003) and the Homer Central School District (1993-1995 & present). Coach Barnes begins his tenth year as the director of the Shutout Goalie Academy.

A 1989 graduate of Cortland State, Barnes was a two-time All-American goalie for the Red Dragons. He earned junior college all-American honors at Herkimer Community College. He was a United States Club Lacrosse All-Star Selection from 1994-97 and was invited to try out for the USA National Team in 1997. During the summer of 2001 he was on the USA National Team selection committee.

ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR: Ben Gaebel

Ben Gaebel joined the SUNY Potsdam community last fall as an assistant coach for both men's lacrosse and men's golf. His lacrosse responsibilities are focused primarily upon coaching the defense and goalies. Ben is also heavily involved with player recruiting.

Coach Gaebel also works in many lacrosse camps and clinics including those at: Lemoyne, Hobart, Syracuse, Carthage, and Syracuse University. Additionally Ben has worked in the Powell Brothers Lacrosse Camps.

A 2006 graduate of SUNY Cortland, Gaebel was an All-American goalie for the Red Dragons and starting goalie of their '06 National Champion team. Ben was also named to the All-SUNYAC team in both 2005 and 2006. He finished at Cortland with a major in Athletic Training.

Prior to his illustrious college lacrosse career, Ben was an All-Northern goalie at Carthage High School. He was named a Frontier League All-Star in both 2001 and 2002. During his tenure at Carthage, his team twice finished as runner-ups for the New York State Championship. Gaebel also played varsity basketball for two years and football for three years
